Unicorn AI Open Beta

Unicorn AI lets you create new effects from a prompt and refine existing effects with natural language. It is available in open beta for Legend subscribers.

How it works

Create new effects

Unicorn AI can create net new effects from scratch.

  • Next to the toolbar, click "Create effect"
  • If you have a scene currently selected, the new effect will be added to that scene by default.
  • You may also select "New scene" and run up to 4 simultaneous generations, each on its own scene canvas.
  • After about 40-60 seconds you'll be able to play with and continue to edit your new effect(s).

Edit existing effects

You can also use any effect as a starting point. When you select an effect, the "Create effect" button next to the toolbar will become "Edit effect".

Examples

  • Pattern: "Add a new pattern with little plus signs evenly spaced apart that expand with mouse proximity"
  • Glyph dither: "Add a dither mask with random shapes and random colors"
  • Fast bloom: "Make the bloom horizontal only"

Beta access and credits

  • Unicorn AI is available in open beta for Legend subscribers.
  • Legend subscribers receive 200 AI credits each month.
  • Creating a new effect uses 10 credits.
  • Simple edits use 2 credits, while edits Unicorn AI classifies as complex use 5 credits.
  • Monthly credits reset each billing period and do not roll over.
  • One-time credit boosts are available if you need more credits. Boost credits do not expire.

Credits are reserved when generation starts. If generation fails, the reserved credits are returned to your balance. Requests that are rejected, clarified, or stopped before generation are not charged.

By using Unicorn AI, you understand:

  • This feature is experimental and may produce incorrect, unexpected, or broken results.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and testing any output before using it in production.
  • Generated outputs are provided as-is, may not be unique, and are not guaranteed to be original, free from third-party claims, performant, correct, or suitable for a particular purpose.
  • You may use outputs created with this feature in your projects, including commercial use, subject to these Terms, any applicable third-party provider terms, and Unicorn Studio's license.
  • We may store and review AI prompts, responses, generated effects, usage metadata, errors, and related traces as needed to operate, debug, secure, improve, and prevent abuse of Unicorn AI.
  • Credit amounts, limits, pricing, and availability may change over time as we refine the feature.

Who can access Unicorn AI?

Unicorn AI is available in open beta for all Legend subscribers.

Is Unicorn AI free?

Unicorn AI uses credits. Legend subscribers receive 200 credits each month. Creating an effect uses 10 credits. Simple edits use 2 credits, while edits Unicorn AI classifies as complex use 5 credits. The Legend plan price remains the same, so it's a "free" addition to existing subscribers.

What happens if a generation fails?

Credits are refunded when a generation fails. If Unicorn AI asks for clarification, rejects a request, or stops before generation begins, credits are not deducted.

Do purchased credits expire?

No. Purchased boost credits do not expire.

Can I use the outputs commercially?

Yes. Outputs created with Unicorn AI can be used in your projects, including commercial work, subject to these Terms, any applicable third-party provider terms, and Unicorn Studio's license.

Should I review the output before publishing?

Yes. You should check performance and make sure it runs well in the performance test page and on your own devices in production.
